STUDENT REGISTRATION

NEW STUDENT REGISTRATION

  • If your child is new to Edmonton Public Schools, you can register for school online. Visit the Division website to learn how to register for school.
  • Children who are five years old on or before December 31, 2026 (born in 2021) may register in Kindergarten for the 2026-2027 school year. 
  • Yellow bus service will be available for eligible K-6 students in Terwillegar Southwest attending their designated school. Edmonton Transit Service (ETS) is the preferred transportation service for junior high students.

CURRENT DIVISION STUDENTS PRE-ENROL

  • Parents of current Division students will need to pre-enroll their child in SchoolZone to tell us the school they would like their child to attend next year.  For detailed information, click here.
  • Sign in to your parent SchoolZone account between February 2, 2026 and March 25, 2026 before 4:00pm to select your child’s preferred school for next year.  Whether your child is staying at the same school or changing schools, all students need to pre-enroll. Knowing how many students to expect helps schools prepare to welcome them in September.

APPLYING FOR YELLOW BUS SERVICE

  • Whether your child is new to yellow bus service or a current rider, you need to apply for yellow bus service each school year.
  • The deadline to apply for yellow bus service is June 1, 2026 to make sure your child receives service on the first day of school. You can always apply for bus service throughout the year as bus routes change.
  • How TO APPLY 
    • STEP 1: Contact your child’s preferred school for information on yellow bus service eligibility
    • STEP 2: Complete the 2026-27 yellow bus service application form (link coming soon) if your child needs service starting in September 2026. 
 

ATTENDANCE AREA

Esther Starkman School has an open boundary with secondary attendance areasTerwillegar South East and Leger.

During pre-enrolment, Esther Starkman School accepts new students as follows: 

Guaranteed:

1.resident students in the attendance area

2. siblings of current students who are returning (regardless of residency)

Remaining spaces are filled in the following order:resident students in the secondary attendance area (if  applicable)

1. resident students outside the attendance area

2. non-resident students

A resident student of Edmonton Public Schools has at least one parent or legal guardian living in Edmonton who is not Roman Catholic. 

 

Esther Starkman School is an overflow designated school for Joey Moss School

Esther Starkman School is an overflow designated school for Joey Moss School, which has a lottery process in place for 2026-27. Resident attendance area students from Joey Moss School should enrol at that school first if they wish to be a part of the lottery process.  If your child is part of the lottery process at Joey Moss School and is not selected to attend that school, they will be able to attend Esther Starkman School.

Siblings 

Siblings of students who will be returning to Joey Moss School the following school year will also be able to attend Esther Starkman School if they are not selected in the lottery process.
